Jae Ha Lee is the Dean and Professor of Finance at SKK Graduate School of Business (SKK GSB). He is a Founding Member of SKK GSB, and his previous positions at SKK GSB were Deputy Dean and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the period 2004-2014. He also served as MBA Director and member of committees including the Executive Committee from 1997 to 2003 at the Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) Business School. Prior to joining SKKU in 1997,
he was the MAPCO Presidential Professor of Finance at the University of Oklahoma (OU) in USA.
Dr. Lee received his BS and MS in Electronics Engineering from Seoul National University and his MBA and Ph.D. in Finance from Indiana University. His research interests include asset pricing, financial markets, derivatives, international finance, and corporate finance. He published more than 35 articles in Journal of Finance, Journal of Business, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and other leading finance journals, of which some were reported in USA Today and Boston Globe. He has won 4 awards for his research, including Best Paper Award from Financial Management Association and Graham and Dodd Scroll Award from Association for Investment Management and Research. He received 18 research fellowships and grants from many different organizations. He also has a genuine enthusiasm for teaching. He has received a total of 11 prestigious awards for his teaching excellence from OU, SKKU, and SKK GSB. He wrote two books on stocks, bonds, and derivatives, “The Core of Investments,” “Essentials of Investments,” and "Essentials of Corporate Finance."
Dr. Lee has participated in various projects on derivatives and capital markets for the US and Korean governments, including the US Department of Energy and the Korea Ministry of Strategy and Finance. He has served as an advisor, committee chair, or member for many financial institutions and government agencies like Korea Exchange, Financial Services Commission, Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation, Korea Asset Management Corporation, and National Pension Service. He was also a board member of Kyobo Life Insurance for 9 years. He has been very active in Executive Education Programs for many finance companies in Korea. He served as the associate editor of the Journal of Financial Research for 6 years. He served as director and vice-president for Korean academic associations. He was the President of the Korea Derivatives Association in 2006.
