Community Highlight Celebrating the Class of 2026 Welcoming our newest members to the SKK GSB alumni community SKK GSB recently celebrated the graduation of the Full-Time, Professional, and Executive MBA Class of 2026, marking their official entry into the alumni community. During the ceremony, Dean Andrew Yi emphasized the importance of intellectual humility, compassion, and building resilient, human-centered organizations. Watch it here: SKK GSB Youtube 2026 SKK GSB New Year's Party Bringing together the SKK GSB community for a meaningful start to the year. SKK GSB kicked off 2026 with its Alumni New Year’s Party, held on February 26 at the Grand Hyatt Seoul, bringing together over 200 alumni, students, and faculty for an evening of reconnection. Hosted by the SKK GSB Alumni Association, the event brought together participants from across programs and industries, reflecting the strength of the broader SKK GSB community. With a global alumni network spanning over 2,500 members across 77 countries, the gathering highlighted the school’s connected community worldwide. Thanks to the support of alumni and students, as well as the participation of the community, the evening became a meaningful occasion that brought the SKK GSB community together. Hike Together Connecting Beyond the Classroom Students from the FMBA and MMS programs, together with faculty and staff, recently gathered for a “Hike Together” event at Waryong Park. The group spent a spring morning exploring scenic trails and enjoying meaningful conversations along the way. They followed a route through Malbawi, Sukjeongmun, Cheongundae, and Changuimun, taking in both the natural surroundings and the opportunity to connect beyond the classroom. The hike offered a refreshing break from daily routines and a chance to experience a different side of the SKK GSB community. Moments like these reflect the close-knit and collaborative spirit that defines life at SKK GSB. Faculty Insights Perspectives from Our Faculty Sharing insights on chipflation and rising costs in the AI era. Prof. Terence Lim of SKK GSB shared his insights on “chipflation” in an interview with KBS News, highlighting rising costs across the technology sector driven by the growing demand and limited supply of memory chips in the AI era. He noted that firms will need to continuously upgrade chips and servers, requiring repeated investments over time. Alumni Continuing Education(ACE) Program Continue Learning with SKK GSB The SKK GSB Alumni Continuing Education (ACE) Program continues to offer alumni the opportunity to return to the classroom and engage with MBA courses. While the application period for this term has closed, we’ve seen many alumni join even on short notice—often after just a few days of consideration. As the program continues to grow, we plan to share more alumni stories and experiences to give a closer look at how ACE supports continued learning and professional development. Most courses are offered as PMBA electives and are typically held in the evenings, making them accessible alongside a full-time work schedule. Watch it here: SKK GSB Instagram Faculty Insights Faculty Spotlight Rethinking Fairness in Business Decisions Prof. Frank Huettner of SKK GSB has co-authored a paper published in the European Journal of Operational Research, examining how to calculate fair payouts in situations where decisions create wide-ranging side effects. Using examples such as corporate mergers that reshape entire markets, the research highlights how actions often affect more stakeholders than initially assumed. Campus Highlights 2025 SKK GSB MBA Run Together Building Energy, Community, and Shared Memories The 2025 SKK GSB MBA Run Together brought together more than 120 students, alumni, and their families for a refreshing day at Olympic Park. Participants enjoyed the autumn weather while strengthening connections across programs and highlighting the strong sense of community at SKK GSB. It was also a meaningful opportunity for alumni to reconnect in person after some time apart, creating an atmosphere filled with warm conversations and shared moments. SKK GSB plans to continue hosting Run Together annually, providing more chances for our community to gather and stay connected. The session examined global ESG trends, shifting investment methodologies, and their impact on market indices. SKK GSB will continue to host ICIG Forums that highlight emerging issues in sustainability and finance, and we look forward to welcoming our community to future sessions. Connecting Alumni Alumni Insights: Level Up Your Career Game! Insights for Leadership, Growth, and Career Advancement The Alumni Insights Session, co-hosted by the Alumni Association and the PMBA Student Council, featured perspectives from EMBA alumni working in semiconductor, biotech, and healthcare. The event offered meaningful insights on innovation and career development, followed by a networking reception that encouraged connection across programs. Future sessions will also continue to welcome the broader alumni community as we expand opportunities for engagement, learning, and collaboration. The discussion explored how business education in Asia is evolving, what continues to be essential, and how schools can navigate emerging challenges and opportunities in a rapidly changing environment. Read More Faculty Interview Welcoming Our New Faculty Members This year, SKK GSB welcomed two new faculty members: Professor Travers Barclay Child and Professor Samah Shaffakat. Professor Child’s research focuses on the intersection of generative AI, finance, political economy, and economics, examining how firms and countries differ in their ability to adopt and benefit from AI technologies. Professor Shaffakat’s work centers on leadership, ethics, and workplace behavior, including how dark leadership and power dynamics influence team ethics and employee well-being. Events Recap Active Moments, Lasting Bonds 2025 SKK GSB Alumni President’s Golf Festival On May 25, alumni from EMBA, PMBA, FMBA, AI MBA, and BA MBA came together for the SKK GSB Alumni President’s Golf Festival — a truly memorable day of connection. More than just a round of golf, the event was a meaningful moment to strengthen the bonds within our growing alumni community. Since celebrating its 20th anniversary last year, the SKK GSB Alumni Association has continued to grow—with active engagement from both longtime and new alumni. On March 1, over 100 graduates from SKK GSB's Full-Time, Executive, and Professional MBA programs celebrated their achievements at the Graduation Ceremony. Dean Andrew Yi encouraged them to keep expanding their knowledge and positively impact others, reminding them that their efforts will bring unexpected rewards. The memorable event concluded with heartfelt congratulations and warm wishes for their future endeavors. Academic Life BA MBA Students Kick Off Applied Business Project SKK GSB launched this year's Applied Business Project (ABP) for the Business Analytics MBA program. ABP connects institutions with BA MBA students to develop data-driven solutions for business challenges. This year's participants include IVI, SOLAIRE Partners, Collab Asia, and Socar, providing students valuable opportunities to apply their analytics skills in real-world scenarios. Through these projects, students gain practical insights while delivering impactful solutions to industry partners. PMBA Students Connect at 'Welcome Wave' Event SKK GSB hosted the 'Welcome Wave' networking event for Professional MBA students, bringing together 16th to 19th cohorts along with esteemed professors. The event provided a great opportunity for students to connect, share experiences, and expand their networks. Participants expressed their excitement about building meaningful relationships that will keep them motivated throughout their journey at SKK GSB. EMBA Class of 2026 Celebrates Spring Party SKK GSB's Executive MBA Class of 2026 hosted a Spring Party to welcome Professor Eric Shih as the new EMBA Chair and strengthen peer connections. The event featured engaging conversations, fun activities, and opportunities for students to bond with professors while sharing academic insights and professional experiences. The warm and supportive atmosphere encouraged meaningful connections to enhance their MBA journey. Connecting Alumni PMBA Alumnus Leads Choeun Savings Bank to Success Wooseok Jun, an alumnus of SKK GSB's Professional MBA program, has successfully led Choeun Savings Bank as CEO since 2021, consistently achieving profitable results. Reflecting on his MBA journey, he highlighted developing a global mindset as his greatest takeaway. Even five years after graduation, he continues to value insights from the PMBA program, praising its faculty, curriculum, and student support. He encourages students to stay dedicated to their goals. Read more here. Faculty Professor Minjung Koo Shares Insights on Luxury Trends Professor Minjung Koo highlights shifting luxury trends among Millennials and Gen Z. Unlike previous generations, they no longer view luxury items solely as status symbols but as tools for self-expression and investment. Professor Koo explains that limited-edition shoes from brands like Nike and Dior, despite their high price, effectively capture their interest. Scarcity drives demand, encouraging consumers to showcase these items on social media and resell them for profit, combining exclusivity with self-expression. Read more here. Alumni Achievement Award Winners As part of SKK GSB's 20th-anniversary celebration, SKK GSB presented the 'Alumni Achievement Award' to three outstanding alumni recognized for their distinguished contributions in their fields. Based on alumni recommendations, the award winners were Byunghyun Ahn, CEO of Kyobo Book Centre, Jee Woo Lim, CEO of POSCO HY Clean Metal, and Mi-Sun Yang, General Manager of Ipsen Korea. Byunghyun Ahn (FMBA 2009) was recognized for his leadership in digitalizing Kyobo Book Centre, transitioning it from offline channels to a strong digital infrastructure and boosting its online business presence. Jee Woo Lim (FMBA 2015), with over two decades of expertise at POSCO, was acknowledged for his technical proficiency, leadership, and professionalism, which earned him the position of CEO at POSCO HY Clean Metal this year. Mi-Sun Yang (EMBA 2021), whith nearly 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry, including MSD Korea, AstraZeneca Korea and Gilead Sciences Korea, was acknowledged for her expertise and was appointed General Manager of Ipsen Korea in September. Events Recap SKK GSB Students Celebrate Year-End Across All Programs Students from SKK GSB’s FMBA, PMBA, EMBA, and BA MBA programs celebrated the end of 2024 with meaningful year-end gatherings. The events brought together cohorts, faculty, and peers to reflect on their achievements, share untold stories, and strengthen bonds within the SKK GSB community. Students across all programs appreciated the opportunity to network, recharge, and look ahead to 2025 with renewed enthusiasm. Academic Life SKK GSB Welcomes Dean Andrew Yi SKK GSB is pleased to welcome Andrew Yi as its new Dean. Dean Yi expressed gratitude to his predecessor, Eric Shih, for his leadership and outlined his vision for the school, emphasizing a commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global collaboration. He stated, “Together, we will turn uncertainty into opportunity and set new standards for excellence in business education.” SKK GSB Introduces One-Year Full-Time MBA Program SKK GSB now offers a one-year Full-Time MBA, minimizing career breaks and providing flexible options for global MBA education. Starting with the Class of 2025, students can choose between a one-year or one-and-a-half-year track, with dual degree opportunities at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. This marks a new milestone in SKK GSB’s commitment to innovation in business education. SKK GSB's 20th Anniversary Celebration Date: November 22, 2024 (Fri.), 7 PM Venue: Chobyungdoo Hall, 600th Anniversary Building Join us for an unforgettable evening as we celebrate SKK GSB's 20 years of growth and look ahead to a bright future. The gala dinner will be a special moment to honor our journey and the milestones we've achieved together. We also invite alumni and students to contribute items for the lucky draw. RSVP Here Events Recap ICIG Forum on Renewable Energy and Climate Policy SKK GSB successfully hosted its 7th forum, "Investing in Climate, Investing in Growth," on October 1, 2024. Joojin Kim, CEO of Solutions for Our Climate (SFO°C), discussed Korea’s climate policy challenges, emphasizing the importance of renewable energy. He noted that while LNG was considered cleaner than coal, its global warming potential was 80 times higher than CO2 over 20 years. Kim also stressed that Korea's low renewable energy output was due to regulations, not a lack of resources or technology. MBA Bash Unites Cohorts for a Night of Networking SKK GSB hosted the Business Analytics MBA Bash at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul on August 31st, where students from all Business Analytics MBA cohorts came together for the first time. The event provided valuable networking opportunities and strengthened connections across cohorts. SKK GSB aims to continue fostering such meaningful interactions, not just within the Business Analytics MBA program but across all its offerings. Korean Labor Laws and Visas for International Students On October 15th, SKK GSB’s Career Development Center hosted a lecture on "Overview of Korean Labor Laws and Essential Visas" for international students. A labor attorney provided key insights into labor regulations and the visas required for internships and employment in Korea. The event was highly interactive, with students engaging in Q&A sessions, gaining valuable knowledge for navigating Korea's job market. Academic Life SKK GSB MBA Program Remains Ranked No. 1 in Korea The Maeil Business Newspaper highlighted SKK GSB as the top MBA program in Korea and the world's top 100 for 13 consecutive years, according to the Financial Times. SKK GSB offers dual degrees with top institutions like Indiana University and EDHEC Business School. Its Professional MBA is unique in allowing evening students to study at Indiana University while completing a full-time MBA. Additionally, the MS program offers flexible online learning options. Faculty Professor Frank Huettner Publishes Paper on Fair Value Distribution Professor Frank Huettner of SKK GSB has published research in Games and Economic Behavior introducing an improved method for fair value distribution, accounting for external factors. In collaboration with professors from HHL Leipzig and Waseda University, the study expands the Shapley value to ensure fair compensation in complex situations where external factors are considered.
