- Kyoungho Park
I'm currently working at the World Bank's Washington headquarters to inform private investors of the government guarantee program in developing countries. My role comprises analyzing potential businesses and evaluating risks to help investors succeed in their investments.
Before my MBA, I was in charge of overseas private investment projects at a Korean construction company. These were Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects. I went on multiple business trips to developing countries, which forged my desire to contribute to the public sector by working in international institutions. To that end, I decided to join the IU Kelley–SKK GSB Executive MBA program.
The EMBA program is designed to improve students’ strengths while helping them identify and develop their weaknesses. Therefore, even students who lack basic knowledge can learn and improve step by step. In my case, I learned what I needed to become a successful leader through subjects such as leadership, human resources management, and communication—areas in which I had not previously been confident.
In particular, I found the program especially valuable because SKK GSB offers a joint curriculum with the IU Kelley School of Business, one of the most prestigious business schools in the United States. One of the most memorable moments during my studies was attending Professor Daniel Beneish’s class in person. He developed the Beneish Model, which I had studied while preparing for the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) examination. Meeting Professor Beneish face to face was a truly meaningful experience.
I also built an invaluable network with my classmates. I can confidently say that SKK GSB EMBA students and graduates possess both exceptional professionalism and outstanding interpersonal skills. Being surrounded by them, I could constantly feel their passion and drive. One classmate who had already earned another master’s degree remarked that, although he had studied at a different institution before, he had never experienced such a high level of proactive participation in projects and open exchange of ideas during discussions.
It is no exaggeration to say that the EMBA changed my life. It opened the path toward my dream career and gave me confidence. Through the program, I came to believe, "I am someone who can demonstrate my value anywhere."
